They really make this much too easy...
by Ingenuous in*** w63 11/15 pp.
689-690 execution of divine judgment upon false religion ***.
6 necessarily there must be just one true religion, just as there is only one true science.

Come on guys, that article was written in 63', that's OLD LIGHT!
If that statement is true then my conclusion is that there can be no such thing as "true religion" -

Kingdom Ministry issues
by kristyann inokay, i am not sure about this, even though it's probably pretty obvious to everyone, but what exactly is the kingdom ministry magazine?
it's something that is available only to active jws, right?
i know that they don't go around handing it out like they do with the watchtower and awake!

It is also tailored per country. They are differant depending upon where you live. They are the Watchtowers way of keeping everyone "up to date" in an area that is under the oversight of the branch.
As to the contents. For the most part it is pretty boring stuff. It's allways "teaching" us better ways to sneak into peoples lives and "teach" them "truth" about the Bible. I allways find it quite bland and unrealialistic. -

Hey Guys. Just got back from my LONG day. Funny to see everybody talking about who I am and if thats my picture. Much of what has been said about the assembly was simply that it was boring. I found a few things interesting. They used the word "refine" alot. There was this talk about the "marking work", I didn't understand how that fit the topic. I don't know if I will have enough time to post my notes tonight, mabye tomarrow morning. One more day to go of this thing. Wish me the best.
-Just to make things clear, that's not my picture and I'm really not named Drew Sagan. I wish I could be that brave at the moment. I'm still going to the meetings and everything, my wife is still a believer. I'm taking it slow. Hope that clears things up.

Were is that song about bees that where molested and that I can never beat them off? I can never sing that with a straight face.
One time the CO was sitting behind me and we sang this song. I don't think he noticed us crackin up. It was a riot. -

Historical Bible Application...
by Tuesday inhey all, i'm looking for some links to information applying bible prophecy to things occuring at that time.
like how the beasts in daniel were actually referencing the babylonian king; a thinly-veiled way to say "god's going to kill him for us".
links would be fantastic, books are great too.

I've posted on this before, but this is my view on the matter. Look at a variety of Bible Commentaries. You will find what everybody agrees on up to a certain point and then see where the break begins. I suggest Alber Barnes for starters, but there are many others. look at commentaries on this site: http://www.christianbooks.com

Disfellowshipping - Pros and Cons
by Spectrum inwhen i was a jw i remember believing that disfellowshipping was jws great and distinguishing feature.
great, because it got rid of the people that didn't take our righteous path seriously and wanted the temporary trappings of the world including all the sinful stuff and brought them back into our puritanical line if they genuinely repented.
the congregation therefore maintained a high christain standard.

I think that disfellowshipping has shown itself to be what all authority structers eventually do. Fail.
The majority of people who are disfellowshipped have commited wrongs, things that most religions would pass over. Their taking such wrongdoing seriously is something worth noting. But I feel that since no man made religious structure can be flawless, the entire policy opens itself up to problems.
Instead of looking for "marks" that identify "true christians", I have come to realize that since the coming of Christ God extends out his mercy to us as INDIVIDUALS and NOT organized groups. The idea that there would be a goup here on the earth that would be the only acceptable one is absurd. I don't feel God works that way.
Disfellowshipping has pros and cons. I feel that the bigger issue at hand is not simply the idea of disfellowshipping, but instead religious authority in general.
